Lockdown fatigue and our wellbeing

How is our mental health being affected by the pandemic?

The Health Foundation has reported that more than two-thirds of adults in the UK (69%) report feeling somewhat or very worried about the effect COVID-19 is having on their life. The most common issues affecting wellbeing are worry about the future (63%), feeling stressed or anxious (56%) and feeling bored (49%).

Mental health, like physical health needs nurturing and consistency. Sometimes it can seem that we don’t have enough time in our day to do all of the above however if you even commit to a short time on each, it will help you feel more focused, productive and motivated.

Here are a few tips to beat stress and overwhelm:

Be active – physical health is so connected to mental health. So if you are ever feeling flat, unmotivated, low or anxious then try an activity.

Keep learning – new skills, create opportunities and be open to change. Learning is essential for nourishing our minds and enables us to enhance our critical thinking.

Be mindful – notice your feelings and how they affect your thoughts, thinking and behaviour. Try to be present.

Connect with others – spend time with people that build you up. Yes connection is about spending time with others but it is more about unity, building relationships and can help with our emotions.

Give to others – your time, words, comfort, any giving in the smallest ways can reinforce our own personal values and feel like we're living in a way that is true to our own ethical beliefs.

Imagine, feeling less stressed and frustrated, having clarity, a focus on your purpose and passion and the confidence and motivation to put the right strategies, processes and tools in place to move your life and business forward.
