Work life balance is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Today we have a lot of time pressures. We give a lot to work, our family, friends, volunteering, getting just enough sleep, and then doing it again the next day. We call it work/life balance.

What do you do to feel in control? Recently, I shared a post on LinkedIn about back in 2019. I was pretty unhappy, I was always rushing around for work, family, kids stuff and felt like I never had time for myself. I was constantly tired, lacked in energy, stressed, had low mood, consistently anxious and it was affecting how I felt about myself and relationships with others. I was out of balance. Can you relate to this?

Here are some ideas to get back to balance

  • Assess what is going on right now for you. Be honest about how you would want to spend your time, does it connect with your values and does it bring you joy?
  • Take care of you first, I put my wellbeing time in the diary first now and I treat it as important as a client meeting.
  • Have a schedule, a plan and key activities that you do each day, month, year. Tracking is massively helpful with being in control and being organised helps with times of overwhelm and stress.

Balance is something that is so personal and awareness is key to reclaiming that equilibrium. However, another key thing that I have learnt over the years is consistency is what really transforms change.
